BNSF says it has cancelled "Availability Policy"  2-4-00

CLEVELAND - In a press release issued today by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Company (BNSF), the carrier announced that it has decided to cancel its "availability policy."

BNSF said it has taken this action after more than two months of discussions with the United Transportation Union (UTU) and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers (BLE).

BNSF President and Chief Operating Officer said in the company press release, "During December and January, BNSF met with BLE and UTU representatives to discuss better ways to work together to ensure that BNSF operating employees are in place to meet our customers' requirements. Later this month, we expect to announced a new approach that reflects what we learned from those discussions."
