Memorandum of Understanding
Between
The Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railway
And
United Transportation Union
It is agreed:
Upon signing by the respective parties, the following changes will take place for yardmen working at Vancouver, WA and will be on a six (6) month trial basis.
- Use of the "Book" will be suspended while this understanding is in effect.
- Layoff requests may be submitted up to 90 days in advance of the requested day off. PL Day(s), One--day--at--a--time vacation days, or non-paid (personal) requests may be submitted.
- Advance layoff requests must be entered in the TSS Crew Calling System. Exceptions will be made for emergency or unexpected requests and by those without computer access.
- All requests will be processed on a "First come first served" basis. All submitted requests will be acted upon (Approved or denied) within forty-eight (48) hours of the date entered in the computer.
- The quota for number of yardmen at Vancouver allowed off per day will be increased from three (3) to four (4) trainmen.
- Once a request has been approved, it will not be canceled. Further, if the employee approved to be off would be called to protect an assignment, that would conflict with his approved absence, that employee will be entitled to advance the start of his absence to sufficient degree.
This Memorandum of Understanding will become effective January 1, 2002, signed this 7th day of December 2001, in Vancouver, WA.
This memorandum of Understanding may be canceled
by fifteen (15) days written notice by either party served upon the other. If canceled,
previous conditions and handling will become effective.
