RE: Payroll Access

May 29, 2000

Mr. Fay, in reference to your letter dated May 25, 2000, addressed to Local Chairman, which states.

            Local Chairman:

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe has a policy that when an employee retires their authority to get into the timekeeping system is removed, therefore, retired TY&E employees can call Pam Jones, Manager Timekeeping in Topeka (785) 435-3320 every thirty days to find out what outstanding claims have been paid or declined.

This policy exemplifies the paranoid contempt the BNSF harbors towards its employees.

May I point out that the two employees have a combined service of over 65-years. Both men have made many sacrifices in their home life during their career for railroad emergencies and manpower shortages.

Now as these very employees retire, they are locked out of the payroll system before all pay tickets and claims are processed. A fine way to say thank you for many years of dedicated service.

Yours Truly,
JL Schollmeyer
Local Chairman 1637
